Sakpatenti delegation visited USA for study on technology transfer issues
On 7-21th of July, Georgian delegation headed by Ekaterine Egutia, deputy chairperson of the National intellectual property Center Sakpatenti, visited USA. Together with the Georgian counterparts, Armenian delegation also participated in the US study visit. The study tour was organized by Commercial Law Development Program under the US Department of Commerce.
The Georgian delegation consisted of the representatives from the state, university and business organizations such as: Sakpatenti, Tbilisi State University, Georgian Technical University, Georgian Agrarian University, Free University, Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation and Georgian Employers Association. During the visit participants had a chance to get familiar with the US technology transfer system. Number of meetings were held at the US Department of Commerce, Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute (MTech), Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO), Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Oklahoma State University and other relevant agencies active in the field of technology transfer and innovation.
At the end of the visit final session was organized in the US Department of Commerce in order to summarize and draw conclusions. Participants came up with the concrete future plans with the aim to establish a successful tech-transfer and innovation system in Georgia.
