On March 19-23, 2012, the World intellectual property Organization (WIPO), in cooperation with the United States copyright Office, Library of Congress, organized in Washington an International Symposium on Emerging Issues in copyright and Related Rights for Developing Countries and Countries in Transition. Mr. Irakli Ghvaladze, Chairman of Sakpatenti and Ms. Elene Kemashvili, Head of Legal and copyright Department of Sakpatenti participated in the seminar.

At the symposium strategies and visions linked with copyright and related rights were discussed.

The given event is a certain platform in strengthening the copyright infrastructure and capacities in response to these new challenges.
Representatives of copyright offices of developing countries and countries in transition participated in the symposium.

Chairman of Sakpatenti also met with Mr. David J. Kappos, Director of the United States Patent and trademark Office, and Ms. Maria Pallante, Director and Register of copyrights of United States copyright Office, Library of Congress.
