Sakpatenti Delegation in Kyrgyzstan
On November 28-29, 2011, a Regional Seminar on intellectual property and Competition Policy, jointly organized by the World intellectual property Organization and the State intellectual property Service of the Kyrgyz Republic, took place in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. From Georgia a delegation of Sakpatenti, headed by its Chairman Mr. Irakli Ghvaladze, and Mr. Lasha Mgeladze, Head of the Agency for Free Trade and Competition, participated in the seminar.
During the visit Mr. Irakli Ghvaladze and Mr. Paata Kalandadze, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Kazakhstan, met with the Minister of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Director of the State intellectual property Service and representatives of other offices. At the meeting the parties discussed the issues of registration of appellations of origin of Georgian wines and mineral waters on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The Kyrgyz party expressed its readiness to render assistance to Georgia in the registration process. Specific measures have been planned for the prevention of illegal registration and use of Georgian appellations in the Kyrgyz Republic.
