Fabergé eggs returns after 90-year absence
Jeweller Fabergé has unveiled its first new collection of its iconic high jewellery egg creations since 1917.
The creations pay homage to the legendary Imperial Eggs created by Peter Carl Fabergé for Russia’s imperial family, the Ramanov’s. The brand has designed a series of one-on-a-kind couture egg pendants called Les Fameux de Fabergé.
The first creations from this collection have been launched as part of the Les Saisons Russes high jewellery collection at Paris Couture Week in July 2011, and will be part of a series of 12 one-off couture egg pendants.
Each of the 12 creations will be unique and based on a theme inspired by an old Russian proverb.
Fabergé is also launching a more affordable, 60-strong collection of fine jewellery egg pendants, called Les Frissons de Fabergé. The first advertising campaign featuring the new egg pendants was shot in London on July 3, by Mario Testino, Carine Roitfeld and Katharina Flohr.
