Description

Given the high demand for the participation in the 4-week summer school which is taking place in Beijing from July 11 to August 6, the Department of Public, Civil Procedure, International and European Law (DIRPPIE) of the University of Milan , together with the Peking University School of Government, has decided to present a second summer school session from August 6 to August 20. This second session will include the same program of the first one but with fewer lectures per day, being two-weeks long.

The sixth edition of summer schools in China includes two curricula: the “Summer Institute on Climate Change and Environmental Protection” (SICCEP) and “Summer Institute on intellectual property Rights and China ” (IP-China).

It is a particularly innovative multidisciplinary program which takes into account the demands of law firms, international organizations and companies as far as the training of professionals involved in these issues is concerned.

1) Introduction to Chinese Law, Institutions & Politics (20h) SICCEP and IP-CHINA

2) Global Environmental Governance (14h) SICCEP

3) Environment, Science and Society: a Philosophical Introduction (14h) SICCEP

4) Law, Policy and Economics on Climate Change (14h) SICCEP

5) Introduction to Chinese intellectual property Law and Technology Transfer (20h) IP-CHINA

6) European American and Chinese Approaches to intellectual property Rights and Competition Policy (20h) IP-CHINA

The program is open to undergraduate and graduate students with a background in law, political sciences, languages, philosophy, economics, engineering, environmental sciences, physics, chemistry as well as professionals from all those sectors dealing with the topics of the program.

The highly multicultural environment created by the presence of a teaching staff of different nationalities (Italian, French, Swedish and Chinese) is enhanced by the presence of Chinese students as well as students coming from the developing South-east Asia and Africa .

This program is organized in partnership with the University of Turin Faculty of Law and the University of Eastern Piedmont Faculty of Economics in Italy , Lund University Faculty of Political Sciences in Sweden , University of Provence Aix Marseille I - CNRS Centre of Comparative Epistemology and Ergology in France , and in cooperation with University of Pavia , Faculty of Law.

The class schedule is structured in a way that allows the attendance of both curricula. This choice is justified by the strong interrelation between the two broad issues as well as by the extreme interest shown by institutional and international partners towards a program which deals with both of them together, especially in view of EXPO 2015 in Milan .
